Preparatory Programme for Higher Education Studies in English (PrepProg 2022-2024) was a joint project of nine universities of applied sciences funded by Ministry of Education and Culture. In the future, universities of applied sciences want to support access to higher education for also to those with developing Finnish or Swedish language skills and therefore wish to pursue studies in English-taught degrees. This programme is 30cr and consists of preparatory studies required whilst studying any university degree in Finland. The focus is on English language studies but also at the same time supporting development of Finnish or Swedish language skills which are vital for integration and employment paths in Finland. The programme was piloted in 2023-2024 with a study group consisting of people with temporary protection in Finland who have fled Ukraine due to war.
