In a public letter published on Social Media and then later in The Washington Post (December 2018), social media user Gilian expresses concern over the emotional distress caused by online advertising algorithms. These continued to show baby-related products to her after she had gone through the experience of pregnancy loss. The text of the letter became viral on social media.
