The objective of this study is to know what is the perception of the students of the Degree of Early Childhood Education of the University of Murcia on the use of textbooks, for this purpose, four specific objectives have been established in relation to the perception of students about: the teaching approaches, the social sciences and their educational purpose, the use of textbooks in the Second Cycle of Early Childhood Education and their use for the teaching of social sciences. The research is educational and non-experimental, it is carried out through a descriptive quantitative approach from the design and validation of a survey with Likert scale. The results suggest that the perception of students is close to a teaching approach focused on students and their opinion on the social sciences is that they are useful for the understanding of the environment by students. As for the use of school manuals, students believe that it is a non-motivating resource. Finally, it is concluded that the teaching of subjects in the area of Didactics of Social Sciences in the Degree of Child Education influences the obtaining of these results.
