Idiot-proof and responsibility - Teacher version
The Costa Concordia shipwreck from 2012 was not directly caused by a design flaw, but by social factors such as the captain’s irresponsible behaviour. It still raises the question of whether engineers can take responsibility for preventing future similar accidents. This exercise looks into the possibility of designing cruise ships which are idiot-proof.
