Checklist assessing GenAI content
Since commonly used evaluation criteria—such as a well-known author or reputable organization—often do not apply to GenAI-generated content, this type of content requires different and additional points of attention. For this reason, a checklist has been developed specifically for higher education to help assess the quality and reliability of texts generated by generative AI.
This checklist can be adapted to institution-specific needs; the repository includes versions tailored to institutions such as the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (HvA) and the University of Amsterdam (UvA). The questions and follow-up checks are structured step by step to support users in critically evaluating aspects such as relevance, source referencing, factual accuracy, objectivity, and the inclusion of multiple perspectives.
Both a printable version and an interactive online version are available. This allows each user to apply the checklist in a way that best suits their educational or research context. Please note: the interactive features—such as per-section checklists and explanatory tooltips for “fact-checking” and “checking perspectives” (visible on hover)— will only work if the checklist is first downloaded and opened in Adobe (Acrobat).
Dutch-language versions can be found by searching for “Checklist beoordelen GenAI content".
