A pocket-sized companion to your medical physics lectures
This booklet serves as a companion for the courses
- BBT.MPBI.601: Physical Principles of Radiation in Imaging and Therapy,
- BBT.MPBI.602: Physical Principles of Magnetic Resonance and Nuclear Imaging, and
- BBT.MPBI.603: Physical Principles of Ultrasonic Imaging and Therapy,
taught as part of the MSc programme in medical physics and instrumentation. Companion doesn’t mean replacement. In fact, it serves more as a starting point of basics that you must have learned during your BSc but have forgotten by now and are afraid to ask fellow students because of imposter syndrome. We urge you to read this booklet from cover to cover, not skipping a single page. That should not cost you more than an hour. Then bring it to your lectures as a handy quick —and discreet— reference.
During the lectures you will be guided through the topics to study in your own time from the recommended reading list. Going through 8000+ pages without guidance tends to be challenging. Going to lectures without studying textbooks makes even less sense. Having said that, if you use the resources offered wisely, you’ll master this exciting field in a few months.
